I have to admit, I am not the most cultured blogger in the world. I don’t go to New York museums half as much as I should. I can tell you exactly what is on sale at Searle or what the happy hours specials are on each night of the week, but I can’t hold a great conversation about art. I decided recently that I want to increase my cultural awareness, but seriously, who has time to stroll around the Met all day?
Enter…the Met Podcast, New York’s answer to cultural multi-tasking.
“Met Podcast offers visitors a new and exciting way to enjoy audio programming. You may listen to one or more of these FREE special-edition episodes on your computer or download them for use with any portable MP3 player. You may also subscribe to receive new Met Podcast episodes automatically, as soon as they become available. Although they are produced in conjunction with specific exhibitions, these episodes include special features that may be enjoyed before or after a visit to the Museum—or simply on their own, even after an exhibition has closed. An iPod is not necessary to listen to a podcast audio program.”
Ok, so seeing exhibits in person is ideal. But hey, if you can multi-task at work by listening to a Met Podcast, what could be better?
