Concert Description -

“Spirit Journey” takes the audience on a journey of strength, persecution, tribulation, and finally celebration of the African-American people. The journey begins in Africa with singers, dancers, and drummers. From Africa the journey takes us to a strange land where the life of the African people has changed dramatically and confusion and misery drape their world. The drum weaves the voice of the people throughout the show and beautiful words and harmonies bring the listeners through each new era. African songs, spirituals, freedom songs, civil rights songs, jazz, and finally gospel songs are all woven throughout this beautiful journey of hope and strength. Take a journey with the choir…”Spirit Journey.”

Hotel Wales Receives Carnegie Hill Neighbors Award

June 11th, 2010

As we mentioned in our March 12 blog post, we were honored to be bestowed with the honor of a 2010 Carnegie Hill Neighbors Enrichment Award. We were generously noted as “a committed anchor of Carnegie Hill” and a “pillar of the community for decades.”

We at Hotel Wales would like to thank the Carnegie Hill Neighbors once more for recognizing our hotel.  Being a part of the community makes us feel more proud than we can possibly tell you!

Below we show a photo of Hotel Wales General Manager Robert Holmes receiving the award.

Hotel Wales: “A Great Hotel in a Fantastic Neighborhood…”

May 21st, 2010

Thanks to Trip Advisor reviewer billgorm of Chicago, Ill.,  for his recent review of Hotel Wales

“They were renovating the hotel when we stayed there but to me it didn’t really matter. What a great property. My wife and I visited with our four children for the first time and loved staying at this Upper East Side location. Sure you might be a little farther from everything but you are in more of a neighborhood and right off the park. I think people who stay right in the middle of everything are the ones who don’t like New York. Not a problem here. We walked the neighborhood and found great restaurants and some good gelato also. The hotel itself was undergoing work which I understand has been finished. I am sure it will just add to the elegance of this hotel. Great continental breakfast in the morning and be sure to head to the rooftop garden for some coffee. It offers a great spot to read the newspaper. I would definitely return.”
