Libertador Opens on the Upper East Side

March 16th, 2009

An Argentinean steakhouse opening in a city at “foodie friendly” as Manhattan is fairly big news. The fact that this deliciousness is close to Hotel Wales makes it even more exciting. Libertador just opened on Second Ave., and it’s got people talking.

Who wouldn’t love a swashbuckling gaucho bringing them a plate of empanadas (they have corn, ham & cheese, onion & mozzarella,) and skirt steak? I know I would.

Plus, Daily Candy states that they have a cool full bar and the prices won’t break your wallet (under $24 for everything on the menu.)

Time Out New York had this to say…

“Libertador Partners Stefano Villa and Xiomara Castro, and chef Natalia Machado (Azul, Industria Argentina), bring real-deal empanadas to the Upper East Side, along with other signature dishes like mollejas (grilled sweetbreads) and ojo de bife (rib eye with chimichurri). Sidle up to the meat bar—where you can eat for less while watching the parrillero in action—and wash the carne down with a wine from the Argentine list.” 1725 Second Ave at 89th St (212-348-6222)
